WEBSCTE JEXPO

The Polytechnic Education in our State was introduced immediately after independence. To look after the academic activities of polytechnic education, ‘State Council for Engineering & Technical Education’ was set-up as a Government outfit by an executive order.

The Council was a part of the Chief Inspectorate of Technical Education and subsequently of the Directorate of Technical Education. West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development was formed as a Statutory Body under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 2013.

West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (Technical Education Division) has various activities for conducting a number of courses at Diploma, Post Diploma, Certificate, Advanced Certificate, Short Term Vocational Training, Commercial Education level besides monitoring and affiliating the academic institutions conducting these courses and development of curricula for the purpose.

The Council also advises Government in respect of Technical Education for the areas mentioned above. Apart from aforesaid activities, the Council also conducts entrance examination and prepares merit lists for admission of students to Diploma Courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy etc. in the Polytechnics of the State under its affiliation.

Eligibility Criteria For Applicants

a) Citizenship :
Must be an Indian Citizen.

b) Qualification :
Must have passed the Secondary (Madhyamik) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physical Science/Science and Mathematics among others as subjects securing at least 35% marks (no rounding up) in aggregate as per AICTE norms excluding the marks of the subject taken as additional.

Candidates appearing in the Secondary (Madhyamik) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination in 2018 with English, Physical Science/Science and Mathematics among others as subjects may also apply.

However, conforming to the benchmark of 35% marks (no rounding up as per AICTE norms) in aggregate excluding the marks of the subject taken as additional, is a must, failing which candidature is liable to be cancelled even after selection in JEXPO-2018.

c) Age :
Should not be born after 01.07.2003 and there is no upper age limit.

Application Procedure

The prescribed printed OMR Application Form along with Information Brochure for JEXPO–2018 can be purchased from the Polytechnics as listed in this booklet (under ‘Admission’ section) and some selected ITIs, on CASH payment of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for valid Kanyashree enrolees) from 29th January, 2018 to 5th March, 2018 on all working days except for ‘SUNDAY’s and ‘GAZETTED HOLIDAY’s [between 11.00 a.m. & 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday and between 11.00 a.m. & 1.00 p.m. on Saturday].

Also, there will be provision to submit Application Form online in the website webscte.org (or in any other website as per announcement later). Fee for Online Application is Rs. 450/- (Rs. 225/- for valid Kanyashree enrolees). Procedure of online submission of application and deposition of application fee shall be notified in the Council’s website webscte.org (or in any other website as per announcement later).

Instructions For Filling-Up Of Application Form

Application Form will have to be filled-in properly in observance of the instructions explained below in consultation with the sample section of the application form given in this brochure. Under no circumstances, any subsequent request for change in information, furnished by the candidate in the OMR Application Form, shall be entertained.

Special care on the part of candidates should be taken to prevent such error of omission and commission. Council is not liable for refusal of admission to a candidate by the Institutes from taking final admission even after getting allotment for wrong submission of information by the candidate.

If any difference of information furnished by the candidate in the OMR Application Form and that furnished by the candidate at the time of counseling or thereafter is detected, it shall be treated as a case of furnishing false information on the part of the candidate and will result in cancellation of candidature.

It is to be noted that detection of anomaly in respect of admission eligibility criteria at any stage (admission or registration or even afterwards) shall automatically cancel the candidature and no claim shall be entertained by the Council.
