FRIDU Ph.D Forestry Entrance Test

The Forest Research Institute Deemed to be University is going to conduct its Ph.D. Entrance Test on 07.01.2024 for enrolment in Ph.D. Programme in Forestry. The candidates, who are interested for registration as research scholar for the Ph.D. Degree in Forestry in Forest Research Institute Deemed to be University Dehradun for the term of March 2024 are advised to apply in prescribed form latest by 10.12.2023 with a fee of Rs.1500/- through Bank Draft in favour of Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University payable at Dehradun. No application form will be entertained after the prescribed date.

Eligibility Criteria of Ph.D Forestry Entrance Test

Eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. Programme :
The following are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme
:
(1) Candidates who have completed:
i. A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8 semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4- semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.

A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

(2) Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.

Procedure for Admission of Ph.D Forestry Entrance Test

1 The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the institution, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory/regulatory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the Central Government from time to time.

2 Admission to the Ph.D. programme shall be made once in a year using the following methods:
2.1 The university shall admit candidates by two stages process:
2.1 (A) On interview basis for students qualifies for fellowship/scholarship only in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests:

At first stage the university shall admit students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview preferably during the month of June/July, for published seats. The applicant should have been cleared the exam during previous two years from the last date of submission of the form in the University.

At first stage the seats shall be published for the students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests for appearing in interview and the candidates will be called for interview merit-wise that will be prepared on the basis of score secured in said examination in a ratio of 1:5 with respect to seats and category.

The interview will be conducted discipline-wise by the Head of Division concerned/Nodal Officer of respective research centres to discuss their research interest/area.

The marks of candidates appeared in the interview will be sent to the Registrar, FRI Deemed University, who will prepare the list of selected candidates as per merit on the basis of marks obtained in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests and in interview applying reservation policy, provided that for selection of candidates, a weightage of 70% to the UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests score (they shall have to provide score-card of the marks obtained in the exam, percentile score shall not be considered) and 30% to the performance in the interview/viva-voce shall be given.

The list prepared by the Registrar, FRIDU would be placed before Joint Admission Committee constituted by Vice Chancellor, FRIDU. The Joint Admission Commission shall examine the list of selected candidates keeping in view all aspects and shall approve the list and finally be approved by the Director, FRI/VC, FRIDU and would be uploaded on the website.
