MPET – 2015 MPhil., Ph.D. Entrance Test :
JNV University shall conduct examination for M.Phil. and Ph.D. course of various Departments in Arts, Commerce& Management, Engineering& Architecture, Science and Law Faculties. M.Phil & Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST RULES :
Rules 01:
These rules will be known as Jai Narain Vyas University M.Phil & Ph.D. Entrance Test Rules, hereinafter will be mentioned as JNVU-MPET Rules, which will be applicable in conducting M.Phil & Ph.D. Entrance test and for conducting pre-Ph.D. course work.

Rules 02:
A candidate for admission to the degree of M. Phil/Ph. D. Shall have passed the Master’s or any other equivalent examination in the respective subject or in a related subject, in this or any other University or Institution recognized as equivalent thereto.

A candidate who has obtained First or Second class at the examination for a Master’s degree as specified above shall be eligible for appearing in JNVU-MPET

Rules 03:
Applications for appearing in JNVU-MPET shall be invited once in an Academic Year against vacant seats in different subjects. Ordinarily the vacancies as on 15th June of every academic year for admission in M.Phil/Ph.D. Programme will be notified by the University.

Rules 04:
(a) There will be one paper in the Entrance examination comprising of 100 multiple choice questions on the subject concerned.

(b) The minimum pass percentage of marks is 50. A relaxation of 5% in the minimum percentage of marks shall be applicable to the candidates belonging to the categories of SC/ST/physically challenged & visually impaired as per rules.

Rule 05:
Looking to availability of seats in the different Departments admission to M. Phil/Ph.D. Programme shall be given to those students who qualify JNVU-MPET. The merit list will be prepared only on the basis o marks obtained by the candidate in the Master’s Degree on the basis of which he/she seeks admission.

Rule 06:
The provisions of reservation, as in force in the University, shall also apply to the Ph.D. Programme.

Rule 07:
On a notified date by the Department concerned, the candidates who have qualified Entrance Test shall have to appear for an interview along with documents before the Departmental Council (DC) for approval of Research Supervisor. The supervisor shall be approved by DC, as far as possible, taking into consideration the choice of teachers (at least 3, if possible) given by the candidate and the consent of concerned teachers. In other cases the supervisor will be approved by the DC on basis of merit, specialization of supervisor and the interest area of the student.
(a) After approval of the Supervisor, an eligible candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme shall apply for Provisional Admission to the Department concerned in the prescribed application form along with registration fee as may be prescribed from time to time by the University. The candidate will also submit three copies of his/her Ph.D. Research proposal along with the application through his/her approved Supervisor. The applications of the candidate will be placed before the DC. The decision of the DC shall be placed before Research Board.

(b) The admission of the candidates for the Ph.D. degree shall be considered as provisional till the candidate successfully completes the Pre-Ph.D course work.

Rule 08
Those students who after qualifying the JNVU-MPET fail to join M.Phil/Ph.D. programme due to any reason in that academic session shall be required to reappear and qualify JNVU-MPET as and when he/she desires to seek admission to M.Phil/Ph.D. Programme.

Rules 09-
Every candidate having been provisionally admitted to a Ph.D. programme shall be required to undertake and successfully complete the prescribed course-work of duration of one semester. The course work shall include four papers of 4 hours teaching per week.
(a) The course work and examination will be conducted at the Department level.
(b) The course-work shall be treated as Pre-Ph.D. preparations.
(c) The subject-wise syllabus for Pre-Ph.D. course work will be prepared by concerned Departmental Council. It will also determine the scheme of examination for the course work.
(d) There will be one paper on Research Methodology, which may include quantitative methods, research aptitudes and computer applications as suitable to the Ph.D. Programme.
(e) The second paper may involve reviewing of published research work in the relevant field under supervision of the assigned supervisor.
(f) The third and fourth paper may be designed as per requirements of the area of research and may have elective options so that the candidate may select appropriate course in consultation with concerned supervisors.
(g) The minimum qualifying marks in the course work shall be 50% or equivalent grade for the registration for Ph.D.
(h) In case the candidate fails to obtain qualifying marks in the course works examination, he/she shall be given one more chance.

Rule 10
The fee for application form, MPET and Course work shall be determined with the prior approval of the Vice chancellor. If any doubt arises in the execution of the rules, the Vice-chancellor’s decision will be final in the matter.

What all do you need to complete the Online application process for JNVU?

As an applicant you would need the following:
An E-mail ID for registration and for receiving all future correspondence till the admission process is over and subsequently, if admitted.

A Mobile Number to receive SMS based notifications/communications related to the online application, Admit card, Selection Result, Admission Counseling etc till the admission process is over and subsequently, if admitted.

Access to facilities of computer with internet connectivity, B/W printer and scanner.

A recent passport sized colour photograph (for scanning and uploading in “jpeg” format only. File size of scanned photograph should not be more than 100KB).

Your signature using Blue/Black pen on white sheet (for scanning and uploading in “jpeg” format only. File size of scanned photograph should not be more than 100KB).
Access to an online payment facility / service such as
Net Banking
Credit card
ATM-cum-Debit card

If you do not have Net Banking facility/Credit Card or ATM-cum Debit Card, you can pay the fee in cash at any branch of ICICI Bank & Bank of Baroda through the Challan downloaded from the Application Portal. You will be able to download the duly filled up ICICI Bank & Bank of Baroda challan from the Application Portal only whne you select the “cash payment” option while filling the application form online.
