Q1. Who is eligible for the program?
Candidates who have passed or are awaiting the results of the CBSE/ ISC/ IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 examination in any discipline.

Q2. What is the medium of instruction?
English.

Q3. What skills, background or technical experience do I need?
Candidates must have an interest in and a flair for art and design. Any additional knowledge or experience in drawing/sketching, model making and visual art forms would be an asset towards your admission.

Q4. How do I apply?
Please refer to the ADMISSIONS link for details on online and offline admissions.

Q5. When should I start the application process?
The application process for admission to all three IIAD programs starts Nov 15, 2014.

Q6. What does the selection process involve?
** Candidates will be evaluated through the IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT).
** This will be followed by a personal interview, which includes individual portfolio assessment.
** All candidates must appear for the iDAT and the personal interview/portfolio assessment.
** These stages are mandatory for each candidate and final results will be announced only thereafter.
** iDAT is a 100 marks, two hours test, mandatory for all applicants.
** This test evaluates the candidates aptitude for drawing, design ability, power of observation / representation, creativity, imagination, lateral thinking and writing skills.
** It further gauges student’s environmental awareness through visual and textual questioning.

Portfolio Evaluation :
** Personally developed portfolio is mandatory and this would be evaluated during Personal Interview.
** The body of work can include drawings, paintings, collages, needle-work, three dimensional work, digital design, web design, sculpture etc.
** The portfolio appraisal will carry as much weightage as the personal interview, and the candidate’s work must reflect aesthetic talent and vision.

Personal Interview :
** Personal interview will focus upon applicants’ maturity, confidence, awareness, personal goals, intellectual ability and communication skills.
** The Interview will be conducted after the candidate completes the iDAT.
** The institute looks for talented ambitious and committed students who are ready for a design career.

Q7. Where will the iDAT and personal interviews take place?
iDAT testing will take place at the following city centres in May :
** Ahmedabad
** Bangalore
** Bhopal
** Chandigarh
** Dehradun
** Delhi
** Jaipur
** Kolkata
** Lucknow
** Patna
NOTE:-
Other centres may also be added and details of the same will be notified.
The IIAD reserves the right to cancel/ add/ change any entrance test centre(s) for administrative reasons.

Q8. Do I also need to submit a printed copy of the application form, once I have submitted it online?
No, please submit an application only ONCE.

Q9. How do I send in my original academic transcripts/mark sheets, other documents and photographs required as part of the application process?
** While applying online, you may upload documents where relevant.
** In case of offline application, attach a photocopy of relevant documents.
** If selected, you will have to show original documents at the time of admission.

Q10. Can we view our completed Online Form?
Once you have clicked on the “final submit” button you will be able to view your completed form. On the top right hand corner of your completed form there is a download button available for you to download your completed form.

Q11. Do you acknowledge the receipt of an Online application by mail?
Yes! You will receive a mail once your application has been submitted followed by a call from the admissions counsellor.

Q12. How many students will be admitted in the 2015-16 academic year?
We are aiming for a total of 90 students, with 30 students in each course.

Q14. Does IIAD offer Scholarships?
Yes! IIAD offers 30 scholarships to meritorious students.

Q15. Who is eligible to apply for scholarship?
Candidates with a 70% aggregate in the CBSE/ ISC/ IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 examination in any discipline may apply for scholarship. The final result will depend also on performance in the iDAT, personal interview and portfolio review.

Q17. Does IIAD provide hostel accommodation?
IIAD offers residential accommodation facility for outstation students on ‘FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE-BASIS’. Kindly note the accommodation has limited seats and therefore the earlier you book the accommodation, the better you are placed.
