Ph.D Entrance Examination

Eligible candidates desirous of pursuing Ph.D. Program (both FT/PT) in the University Departments, Constituent Colleges, Affiliated Colleges and other Approved Research Centres of Alagappa University are instructed to apply in the prescribed format for the Pre-Registration Qualifying Entrance Examination (Written test and Interview).

Eligibility Criteria

(Minimum Marks in the Qualifying Degree)
1. Candidates who have passed through 10+2+3+2/11+1+3+2/10+3+2+2 pattern alone can apply
2. 50 % of marks for SC/ST/OBC/ Person with Disablity
3. 55 % of marks for all Other Candidates
4. M.Ed. (Education / Special Education) / M.A. Education is essential for Ph.D. in Education

Candidates who are in the final year / semester of their P.G. Degree may also apply for the Pre-Registration Qualifying Entrance Examination for Ph.D. Program. However the pass certificates will be issued only on production of attested copy of Cumulative Mark Statement ensuring minimum eligible percentage of marks in P.G. Degree

Application Form Details

Application may be downloaded from the University Website (alagappauniversity.ac.in). List of Approved Research Centres and discipline – wise recognised Research Supervisors are available in the University Website. Filled in application must be accompanied by a DD for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Alagappa University payable at Karaikudi.

2. Last date for receipt of filled in application 05.02.2018 5.30 p.m.
3. Written Test 25.02.2018 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
4. Interview 25.02.2018 2.00 p.m.

Pattern Of Entrance Exam

The Entrance Examination for Ph.D Programme is Compulsory for all Candidates (except those with UGC/CSIR, NET, GATE and SET) irrespective of possessing or not possessing M.Phil degree.

Written Examination

(In English Medium) (3 hours)
(For all candidates seeking admission in all disciplines except Ph.D. in Tamil Literature)

The question paper in MCQ pattern is adopted. The Standard of Question paper will be PG for Subject Area is concerned and Graduate level for Language and Quantitative Skills.

Interview

All candidates have to take an interview at 2.00 p.m.in the respective departments or officiating departments which will assess the following abilities of the candidates.
