Eligibility

Eligibility is as per UGC guidelines. For admission to the Ph.D. programme in a related subject in the Faculty, applicants fulfilling any of the following criteria shall be treated as eligible:

1. Candidates have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

or

An equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

2. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

How To Apply For Admission?

Student qualifying Master’s Degree in 2020 can apply for PhD admission. Student need to submit the result on or before Nov 28, 2020 in person or through the confidential document from the University. Student should submit the Self Declaration form

PhD admission form fee Rs. 6000/- (Rs.4000 for reserve category candidates). Applicants can pay through RTGS/IMPS/NEFT modes on the following account and attached payment acknowledgment receipt to the application form.

Exemption From VUPET:
The candidates fulfilling any one of the following criteria will be exempted from VUPET.

I. Qualified NET of the government departments like UGC/CSIR/DBT/DST/ICMR/ICAR etc or SET or qualified GATE with valid score. ( to be decided by BUTR)
II. M.Phil degree of not less than two years duration with minimum 16 credits of course work and a dissertation in relevant subject from a recognized University
III. Minimum 05 years of experience as an approved teacher in any University
IV. Submission of admission form and Interview is mandatory for all candidates including the candidates exempted from VUPET.

Interview

Interview is compulsory for all candidates. Candidates who have qualified the VUPET and those who have been exempted from it will have to appear for the interview at the department level. Candidates will be interviewed to assess their suitability for research in the area of their choice.

Interview carries 100 marks. Selection and merit of the candidates will be decided on the basis of his / her performance at the interview. List of selected candidates will be published along with the name of the guide and the area of their research.The result shall be communicated only to the successful candidates through their registered E-mail ID.
