Law School Admission Test

Developed specifically for use by law colleges in India, the LSAT—India™ tests for high-level reading, informal reasoning, and deductive reasoning skills. These acquired critical thinking skills are essential to succeed in both law college and in the practise of law. The LSAT—India™ will be offered twice – once in January and again in June – and will be administered online. LSAT—India™ is the test for admission into multiple law schools in India.

Eligibility of on LSAT – India

All candidates who complete the test registration application, including uploading a photo and electronic copy of a valid photo ID, pay the registration fee in a timely manner, and follow the published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India™.

LSAT—India™ is a single test for admission to multiple law schools in India. It is the candidate’s responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the law college to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—India™.

If a candidate registers for the test but later is deemed ineligible for admission to the intended law school, no test-fee refund will be available. For LSAT—India Associated Law Colleges eligibility requirements, visit the respective law colleges’ webpages.

Registration Process of LSAT – India

To register for the exam, start by creating a profile here, then follow the steps below.
To register, you will need:
** A valid email address and a mobile number
** Your passport size photograph
** A valid photo ID having complete name, date of birth and signature
** Digital Payment means for paying the registration fees
** After you register and pay the fee:
Step 1 : Complete and submit your application
Step 2 : Check the technical requirements
Step 3 : Prepare for the test
Step 4 : Take the test
Step 5 : Get your score

Frequently Asked Questions on LSAT – India
How long is the LSAT─India™?
The maximum testing time for taking the LSAT—India™ is 2 hours and 20 minutes. The test consists of four timed sections of 35 minutes each. You will not be able to attempt questions or review answers once the section time is over. Additional time will be provided for check-in procedures and other formalities before the test.

If I complete all the questions before the allotted section time, will the balance of time be added to the next section/s?

No. If you complete answering a section before the allotted section time expires, the balance time will not be added to the next section’s allotted time.

Will there be any breaks during the test?

There are no scheduled breaks during the LSAT—India™.

What types of questions are on the test?

There are three types of questions on the LSAT—India™: Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension.

What are the technical requirements to take the LSAT—India™?
Refer to the Testing and Equipment requirements section of this FAQ for LSAT—India™ technical requirements. It is your responsibility to read and understand the requirements, failing which you may be unable to take the test. In such a case, no refunds will be offered.

Will I be able to select my preferred test date and time slot?

If the number of potential test-takers permits it, you may be able to select your choice of preferred dates and time slots from those offered during a scheduling window. Test dates and slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. LSAC will try to provide your preferred test appointment but reserves the right to determine your test appointment to meet overall scheduling needs.

How can I select my preferred test date and slot for the LSAT—India™?

What is a good LSAT—India™ score for admission to a top law school?

Admission and eligibility criteria are decided by individual law colleges accepting LSAT—India™ scores. You should check with your preferred college regarding desirable scores.

Which law colleges accept LSAT—India™ scores?

Pearson VUE has associated with many colleges where LSAT—India™ scores are a preferred criterion for admission. Many other law colleges in India also accept LSAT—India™ scores in their selection process. Check with the law college you are considering for admission regarding test scores they will accept.

How is the LSAT—India™ different from the LSAT?
The LSAT is an admissions test for North American and Australian graduate law programmes. The LSAT—India™ is an admission test customised for Indian law colleges and is used only for admission to law colleges within India. The LSAT—India™ includes the same question types as the LSAT, but is shorter, and scores are reported on a different scale. Scores from the two tests cannot be compared.
