Nitte University Common Admission Test

Nitte Deemed to be University has been ranked 65th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 by the Ministry of HRD, GoI. It is accredited with A+ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC). Nitte University conducts the Nitte University Common Admission Test (NUCAT) for admission to the following programs:
4-year BTech
4-year BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science
4-year BSc Nursing
2-year MBA
2-year MCA

Eligibility of NUCAT

Pass in Class 12 or equivalent examination with not less than 50% (40% for candidates belonging to reserved category) marks as an aggregate in the optional subjects of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics, with English as one of the languages of study. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Admission Categories :
The University admits candidates under General, Inclusivity & NRI categories.
Admissions to B.Tech under the General and Inclusivity categories will be made on the basis of inter-se-merit in NUCAT.

General Category :
Candidates who are Indian nationals and have studied Class 12 in India, fall under General category. Eighty percent (80%) of the seats are reserved for this category.

Inclusivity Category :
Ten percent (10%) of the seats in each program / branch are reserved for students who have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12) in India, but outside the state of Karnataka.

General / Inclusive category students are required to appear for NUCAT 2024, for admission to BTech program. Candidates appearing for Class 12 examination are eligible to apply for NUCAT.

NRI Category :
Candidates mentioned below are eligible for direct admission under NRI category based on marks secured in PCM subjects in Class 12.
1. Candidates who are Foreign Nationals / PIOs / Overseas Citizens of India.
2. Candidates who have passed Class 12 outside India.
3. Candidates who have passed Class 12 in India, but sponsored by parents or blood relatives having NRI status.

Candidates seeking admission to the BTech program under NRI category are required to submit the Application form available on apply.nitte.edu.in

** Email ID changes will not be allowed under any circumstances.

** Admission to Medical & Dental Programs will be based on inter-se merit in the All India Entrance Test (NEET 2024)

NUCAT will be conducted through Remotely Proctored Online Mode OR Centre Based Online Test as per the schedule mentioned below:

Is there an application fee for NUCAT?

A non-refundable fee of Rs. 1100/- has to be paid through Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking / UPI Payment Modes etc.

Will the registration fee be refunded if I do not take the Test?

No.

When is the last date for registering for NUCAT?

NUCAT will be conducted in 3 phases. Please go through the Schedule on nucat.nitte.edu.in

I need to make corrections / modifications in my NUCAT application form. How can I do it?
Any correction required in the application form, may be emailed to info@nitte.edu.in within 2 days of registration.

What is the pattern of NUCAT?

40 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics sections i.e. a total of 120 questions of 1 mark each to be answered in 120 minutes

How many times can I attempt NUCAT?

A candidate can write the Test a maximum of 3 times, on payment of Registration Fee for each Test. Highest score will be considered for the ranking.

Where can I find the Question Bank of NUCAT?

Question bank is not provided as this is only the third year of NUCAT.

What is the syllabus for NUCAT?

The syllabus will be equivalent to that of Class 11 & 12 CBSE / State Board curriculum. The syllabus is provided in detail on nucat.nitte.edu.in

Is there any negative marking in NUCAT?

No. There is no negative marking.
