Admission to Post Graduate Programs 2015-16 School of Post Graduate Studies

LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATION 5.00 P.M. 13.07.2015 FOR MASTERS AND 24.07.2015 FOR DOCTORAL PROGRAMS

PG programs offered :
i. Masters program in 33 disciplines
ii. Regular Ph.D. program in 26 disciplines
iii. Integrated Ph.D. in 4 disciplines
iv. Part -Time Ph.D. by research in all 27 disciplines

Minimum residential requirement :
Master’s Degree : Two years (six trimesters)
Doctoral Degree (Regular) : Three years (nine trimesters)
Integrated Doctoral Degree : Four years (twelve trimesters)
Part Time Doctoral Degree by research : Four years (twelve trimesters)

Eligibility for Master / Doctoral programs :
Masters programs: Graduates who have completed four years degree program in any one of the State Agricultural Universities / Colleges affiliated to State Agricultural Universities alone are eligible to apply for masters.

Regular Doctoral programs : Candidates who have studied four years degree program and two years masters program in any one of the State Agricultural Universities / Colleges affiliated to State Agricultural Universities alone are eligible to apply for doctoral programs.

Integrated Doctoral programs: Candidates who have studied four years Undergraduate degree program in any one of the State Agricultural Universities/Colleges affiliated to State Agricultural Universities with a minimum OGPA of 8.5 / 10.0 scale or its equivalent score alone are eligible to apply for Integrated Doctoral programs.

Part – Time Doctoral programs: Candidates who have studied four years degree program and two years masters program by regular stream in any one of the State Agricultural Universities / Colleges affiliated to State Agricultural Universities and should have professional experience not less than two years in Government or Private organization / Institutions, where R&D facilities recognized by TNAU are available to conduct field and laboratory experiments leading to award of Ph.D degree by TNAU. No objection certificate (NOC) and sponsorship certificate from the employer and statement of purpose (SOP) are mandatory (see appendix 1, 2 & 3) to get admission in this program.

Minimum OGPA /Aggregate requirement: Masters / Regular Doctoral Program / Part-Time Doctoral program: A candidate who has undergone course credit system with a minimum OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or 7.00 out of 10.00 or 70% aggregate alone is eligible to apply for various Masters and Doctoral programs. However, for SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient for all programs.

Application procedure and fee details:
A candidate can apply for only two subjects in Master/ Doctoral programs. Separate fee is to be remitted for each subject.

All applicants should fill in the applications online at TNAU websitetnau.ac.in After filling up, the applications should be sent along with the following documents to Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore 641 003, Tamil Nadu, India by 5.00 p.m. on or before 13.07.15 for Masters and 24.07.15 for Ph.D. programs.

i. Rs.1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST) per subject should be paid online by E-Payment in the link tnauonline.in/

ii. True copies of Tamil Nadu Community certificate issued by the Revenue authorities as per G.O.(Ms).No.85 BC, MB & MW Department, Dated 29.7.2008, G.O.(Ms).No.96 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), dated 08.09.2008, G.O.(Ms).No.97 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 11.9.2008, G.O.(Ms).No.37 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 21.5.2009 and G.O.(Ms).No. 98 BC, MB&MW Department (BCC), Dated 5.11.2009. SC/ST candidates from other states should also enclose true copy of the community certificate issued by competent authority.

iii. A true copy of provisional / degree certificate showing the Class or OGPA obtained in the qualifying degree

iv. True copies of mark list / transcript card showing details of courses undergone and marks obtained in the qualifying degree

v. True copies of the conduct certificates from head of the institution and two professors where the candidate last studied

vi. Self addressed & sufficiently stamped acknowledgement card (Post card) Note: All true copies must be attested by competent authority and have to be enclosed along with application.

Completed application should be properly stitched with all enclosures

Applications received after the prescribed date will not be considered on any account. The University will not take any responsibility for postal delays(or) non receipt of intimations sent by e-mail

Method of selection :
For all Masters / Doctoral programs
Candidates are required to be present on the specified date for a written test to be conducted at TNAU, Coimbatore at their own expenses. Request for change in the date/time will not be entertained.

The exact date of written test will be hosted in the University website and intimated to the candidate through email.

Written test with objective type questions from concerned subject will be for one hour fifteen minutes duration. Candidates applied for two subjects should write the examination for both subjects continuously for two and half hours. Eligible candidates will write the entrance exam for 100 marks in three compartments Compartment 1 General Agriculture for 15 marks Compartment 2 Aptitude for 10 marks Compartment 3 Specific subject for 75 marks

All the original certificates for which attested true copies have been enclosed with the application must be produced for verification at the time of written test. Candidates who fail to produce original certificates will not be allowed to write entrance test.

Candidates should produce PC/Degree certificate before appearing for the MSc.,/Ph.D. entrance examination or at least the completion of viva-voce certificate for Ph.D program from the Head of Institution without which they will not be permitted to write the exam. The date of admission will be the date of registration of first trimester 2015-2016.

Allotment of students to the constituent colleges (for course and thesis) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University will be based on merit and students’ preference. The decision of the University will be final in this regard

Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (including Arunthathiars)/Scheduled Tribes/ Most Backward/Backward Class Muslim/ Backward Classes as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Jummu and Kashmir. The other state students can apply under open competition. 25% seats for (MSc,. /Ph.D) earmarked for other state candidates under ICAR quota and candidates will be allotted by ICAR to TNAU. Depending on the availability of scientist, priority area of research as per the TNAU / TN Govt. policies 20% candidates may be selected on merit basis only from the waiting list under self supporting mode. The decision of the University will be the final in this regard.

Admission Procedure :
The candidate will be informed of their selection for admission to PG program by email only. List of selected candidates will be hosted in the website also. University will not hold any responsibility for failure in delivery of mails. They should pay the prescribed fees on or before the date specified by the Dean, School of Post graduate Studies, failing which their names will be deleted from the selection list and the resultant vacancies will be filled up from the wait list.

The following original documents must be surrendered at the time of admission and failure to surrender any of the documents will make the candidates ineligible for admission.
i. Provisional / Degree certificate of Bachelor’s / Master’s degree.
ii. Transfer /Migration certificate
iii. Conduct certificates one from the head of the Institution and two from the Professors of the Institution where the candidate last studied.
iv. Mark list/transcript card of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree.
v. The original community certificate issued by the competent Revenue authorities should be produced for verification. An attested copy of original community certificate should be submitted for record.

Candidates who have paid the fees should register their courses on the date specified or within 7 working days (Inclusive of Saturdays) from commencement of trimester failing which the candidates will have to forfeit their seat.

Selected candidates who pay the fees on the notified date but fail to register on the specified date or fail to inform within seven working days from the date specified for registration are liable to forfeit all fees paid.

Candidates who discontinue after admission (or) registering the courses are not eligible for refund of any other fees except caution money deposits.

Once the originals are surrendered they will not be returned to the candidates till the course is completed or the candidates discontinue the course permanently. Hence, sufficient number of the copies of all the original certificates (Grade/Mark sheet/report cards/ transfer/ conduct/provisional degree certificates) and scanned copies of the originals should be taken by the candidates before surrendering the originals to the University.

  13. You have asked to bring all sem mark list if they had given all semesters . But having all courses mark list in over all grade card. Will I be allowed to write exam?

    Because the arrear exams are over before 15 days.

  15. I am applying msc(agri) plant pathology in entrance exam in the application form
    They ask course preference code.
    In that what code we can write?

  16. I don’t belong to sports quota & I am not having the sports certificate. When i was registering the courses for applying masters degree,it is admiring that the sports certificate is necessary. Is it necessary?
