VBRET-2015 :
Applications in prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates willing to appear in the Visva-Bharati Research Eligibility Test (VBRET) for admission to the M Phil / Ph D / Integrated M Phil-PhD Programmes of the University.

1. Eligibility for Registration in the M Phil / PhD / Integrated M Phil-PhD Programmes:
a. An applicant for registration in a Ph.D. programme must have obtained a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks or B+ grade in the concerned or an allied subject preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree from a recognized University/ Institute. Due relaxation shall be given to the applicants belonging to the reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India.

b. In addition to the above, an applicant must also fulfill any one of the following conditions:
i) Qualified in any of the following examinations: NET (conducted by UGC / CSIR), SET, GATE, or equivalent National Level Examinations conducted by ICAR/ICMR/NBHM etc.

ii) Holder of UGC Teacher Fellowship/DST-INSPIRE Fellowship/ Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship/Moulana Azad National Fellowship.

iii) Have obtained an M. Phil. degree of Visva-Bharati or any other university recognized by the UGC that also follows the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for awards of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009. (for registration in PhD Programme only)

iv) Have cleared the VBRET (The validity of the VBRET, once cleared, will be for two years from the date of publication of result)

Date of Issue and last date of receiving Application Form: Application form will be available from the University website (visvabharati.ac.in) from 20th June 2015 to 20th July 2015 (up to 6.00 PM).

Date of VBRET: The VBRET in the University will be held on Saturday, 1st August 2015 at 10 AM.

Venue of Examination: Respective Department / Centre of each Bhavana / Vibhaga (Institute).

Syllabus / Mode of Test for VBRET:
Post-graduate syllabus of the subject concerned. Further details in this regard may be available from the respective Department / Centre of Bhavana / Vibhaga (Institute). The test of 100 marks will be conducted. Qualifying marks for general candidates: 50%, for OBC candidates: 45% and for PH, SC & ST 40%.

Reservation of Seats:
Reservation of seats for OBC, SC, ST and Physically Handicapped etc candidates will be made as per the Government of India, UGC and Visva-Bharati guidelines.

Declaration of list of eligible Candidates for VBRET:
The Department/Centre of Bhavana/Vibhaga (Institute) will publish the list of eligible candidates on the Notice Board of the Department/Centre and in the University website at least seven days before the date of examination of VBRET.

International applicants seeking admission to the Ph.D programmes shall be exempted from VBRET.

Incomplete applications are liable to be summarily rejected. Rights of cancellation or admission lie with the Admission Committee of the Bhavanas / Vibhaga (Institute) concerned. The University reserves the right to restrict the number of eligible applicants to be called for admission test.

Applicants are advised to visit our website for any update (inclusion/omission) in connection with VBRET at regular intervals.

How to apply and submit Application Forms:
Application form can be downloaded from the University website (visvabharati.ac.in). The filled in application form supported by self attested copies of age proof, mark sheets, certificates etc. for VBRET along with the application fees of Rs. 500/- (for General and OBC Candidates) and Rs. 150/— (for SC / ST/ PWD candidates), in the form of an account payee Demand Draft drawn on SBI Santiniketan (code — 2121) branch and issued in favour of Accounts Officer, Visva—Bharati, Santiniketan, to be submitted to the office of the concerned Department / Bhavana / Vibhaga (Institute) personally or by post by 20th July 2015.

The subject wise, distribution of seats for various categories of different Programmes and contact information for the Adhyaksha of Bhavanas / Vibhagas are given in the enclosed table.

N.B.: The form is to be accompanied by:
(i) Attested copies of mark sheets of all examinations passed as stated in Sl. No.11
(ii) Attested copies of all Certificates/Diplomas as stated in Sl. No.11 including birth certificate
