BMS/BMM 2015 Entrance Test :
SCHEDULE OF ENTRANCE EXAMS AND ADMISSION TO THE B.M.M. AND B.M.S. THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSES.
St. Xavier’s College, an Autonomous College under the University of Mumbai, invites applications for entrance exams and admission to the Three Year Degree Courses: the Bachelor in Mass Media (B.M.M.) and the Bachelor in Management Studies (B.M.S.) for the Academic Year 2015-2016.

1) Basis of Admission :
a. The admission to the BMM/BMS degree courses will be via an Admission system which consists of an entrance exam (60%), and the marks obtained in the Std. XII Exam (qualifying exam – QE) (40%).
The Entrance Exam will ONLY be held at ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE – AUTONOMOUS, MUMBAI – 400001 as per the schedule below:
B.M.S.: On Friday, June 5th 2015, 14.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs (IST)
B.M.M.: On Saturday, June 6th 2015, 14.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs (IST)
The Schedule will remain unaltered even if the above dates are declared Public Holidays.

b. Type of Exam :
There will be one question paper for each course, of two hours duration. The Question paper will consist of 2 Sections made up of objective and subjective type questions
i) For the BMM it will consist of questions on General Knowledge Current Affairs, Data Interpretation, English Language Skills and Critical Analysis & Creative Thinking.
ii) For the BMS it will consist of General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Data Interpretation and Basic Mathematics, Language skills, Reasoning, Critical Analysis & Creative Thinking.
The test is meant to evaluate aptitude for the Course and does not require any coaching. Classes being offered by external agencies may even be counterproductive.

c. Language of Question Paper :
The question paper will be in the English Language and candidates are required to answer in English

d. Examination Centre :
The BMS/BMM 2015 Entrance exams will be conducted ONLY at St. Xavier’s College, 5, Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai 400 001.

e. Calculating and Communication Aids are not permitted: :
The use of electronic devices like mobile phones, calculators, ipods, etc. and Material like log tables, books, notebooks, loose papers, etc. are not permitted and shall not be brought into the examination hall.

2) Eligibility for BMS/BMM 2015 :
a. Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing for the BMS/BMM 2015 Entrance Exams. Candidates belonging to the General Category (GC) whose date of birth falls on or after 1st June 1992 are eligible to appear for the Entrance Exams BMS/BMM 2015. Candidates belonging to the Catholic religious community and SC/ST candidates who are born on or after 1stJune 1990 are eligible to appear for the Entrance Exams BMS/BMM 2015.
b. The date of birth as recorded in the School Leaving Certificate, First Board / Pre-University Certificate / Birth Certificate issued by a Competent Authority will be accepted. In case of minority candidates the Baptism Certificate will be necessary.
c. Year of passing Qualifying Examination (QE): A candidate must have passed a QE or will be appearing for the same in 2015. Those who will be appearing in the QE later than June 30th, 2015 are not eligible to apply for BMS/BMM 2015.
d. The Qualifying Examinations (QEs) are listed below:
i) The final examination of the 10 + 2 system conducted by any recognised Central / State Board, including the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Mumbai, Pune, etc., Central Board of Secondary Education, (C.B.S.E.) New Delhi, Council for the Indian School Certification Examination, (I.S.C.) New Delhi.
ii) Intermediate or 2 year pre-university examination conducted by a recognised Board / University.
iii) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
iv) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of 5 subjects.
(Note : In case the candidate has passed the qualifying examination from a Board or Pre-University other than the Maharashtra State Board then the candidate will be required to apply for a provisional eligibility certificate issued by the University of Mumbai through the College at the time of admission. The duly filled in application form available at the College Office should be submitted with an attested copy of the class XII marksheet along with the prescribed fees to the college office when admission is offered).
e. Minimum Percentage of marks in QE
i) Candidates belonging to the General Category, must secure at least 65% marks in aggregate in their QE.
ii) Candidates from the Minority Community must secure at least 60% in the QE.
iii) SC/ST candidates must secure at least 55% marks in their QE.
f. Reservation of Seats: (As per the directives given in the University of Mumbai Circular No.Spl.Cell/(68)/218/2005 dated 3rd June, 2005. )

3) Mode of Application for BMS/BMM 2015 :
a. Candidates can apply on-line by logging on to the Homepage of St. Xavier’s College website: www.xaviers.edu. The site has been designed in a user friendly way to help candidates apply online in a step by step fashion. The On-line application portal will be open from 8.00 hrs (IST) on 1st May 2015 to 17 hrs (IST) on 30th May, 2015.
b. The fee for the on-line application for ST/SC candidates only are Rs. 300/- and Rs. 600/- for all other candidates.
c. Candidates can make payment online through Credit/Debit Cards of Nationalised or other banks as listed on the website. Candidates can also opt to make payment by Demand Draft drawn on a Nationalised Bank in favour of ‘Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai’ and forward it by Speed Post addressed to the Registrar of the College so as to reach the College before 2nd June 2015. A Demand Draft received after 2nd June 2015 will not be accepted and the application will not be considered.
d. The College will not be responsible for any postal delay or irregularity or loss during postal transit.
4) Instructions for applying online
Log on to www.xaviers.edu (from 1st May to 30th May 2015)
Follow the instructions given on the website carefully for filling the online application form
Once a payment has been received the candidate will receive an email to confirm and will be able to download and print an Admit Card for the Entrance Exam.
The Candidate will need to affix a recent passport size photograph and get it attested by their School/College Principal or a Gazetted Officer and carry it to the Examination Hall.

5) The Last date for receipt of the completed application form:
a. The Last date for receipt of duly completed online application forms is 17.00 hrs on 30th May 2015.
b. Any application received after this date will not be accepted.
c. The Office of St. Xavier’s College is not responsible for any postal delay or irregularities or loss during postal transit.
d. No acknowledgement card will be sent

6) Admit Cards :
a. The college will issue an online Admit Card which needs to be printed out and brought to the Examination Hall after attestation of their photograph.
b. If the Admit Card is not received by 2nd June 2015, the candidate can approach the College and upon satisfaction of having complied with all requirements, can obtain an Admit Card on or before 4th June 2015, 4.30 p.m. IST from the office of the College.

7) Candidates appearing for the Entrance Exam are required to submit the following document/s as given below alongwith with their ADMIT CARD on the day of the Entrance Exam
GENERAL CATEGORY:
i) One attested copy of the Class XII Marksheet
CHRISTIAN MINORITY :
i) One attested copy of the Class XII Marksheet; and
ii) One attested copy of the Baptism Certificate
RESERVED CATEGORY:
i) One attested copy of the Class Marksheet; and
ii) One attested copy of the Caste Certificate
** SPECIAL CATEGORY :
i) One attested copy of the Class Marksheet; and
ii) One copy of the Documentary proof supporting the category
** which includes
a) Children of Transferred Central/State Government Employees Officers.
b) Children of Defence/Ex-Servicemen,
c) Distinguished Sports persons,
d) Widows / Divorcee Girl Students,
e) Wards of Freedom Fighters.

8) Result of BMS/BMM 2015 Entrance Test :
Candidates will get to know their Entrance Exam Rank (EER) through our website on the date that will be announced later.

9) Over all Rank (OR) :
Based on the performance of the candidate in the Entrance Exam and on the marks obtained in the Qualifying Exam, a weighted score will be given to each candidate and the overall rank of all candidates category-wise will be displayed on the website on a date that will be announced.

10) Interview :
Candidates listed on the merit list for admissions to the First Year BMM and BMS courses will be required to meet the Head of the Department for counseling and finalising their admissions as per the schedule to be announced later.

11) Admission :
a. Candidates who accept the offer of admission shall pay the necessary fees.
b. Fees once paid will not be refunded (for fee structure please see the website under the Course name)

FOR INFORMATION OF ALL CANDIDATES :
The University of Mumbai has made it mandatory for all candidates seeking admission to the First Year courses in the Degree Colleges to fill in the “Pre-Admission Online Registration Form” on the following link http://mum.digitaluniversity.ac (Dates for online registration will be announced by the University sometime in the last week of May 2015 – you will need to click on:- Pre Admission Online Registration)
Therefore, all candidates (including in-house students passing HSC of February/March 2015) applying for admission to St. Xavier’s College for the First Year Courses i.e. B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Sc. (IT), B.M.M., B.M.S. and B.Voc courses in Tourism and in Software Development are required to fill in the “Pre-Admission Online Registration Form” and submit a hard copy of the same to the College Office (dates for submission will be announced later).
Candidates passing Class XII Examinations from Foreign Boards and students passing from International Baccalaureate (I.B.) or “A” levels examinations – General Certificate of Education (GCE) / Cambridge International School Exam (CIE) of Cambridge or University of London are required to first approach the University of Mumbai, Eligibility Section, Kalina Campus, Santacruz (East), Mumbai – 400 098 and obtain a ‘PRIMA FACIE’ Eligibility letter from the University of Mumbai for the purpose of admissions to all First Year Degree Courses namely B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.M.M., B.M.S., and B.Sc. (IT) and B.Voc courses in Tourism and in Software Development.

    I want an admission in bmm in your respected college as we are late for the admission because we are aware out of town.
    Please do let me know how can I enroll myself in bmm now?

    Whether ST.Xavier`s college contain Job opportunity in Three year courses of BMM?
