Diploma Admission :

This Application Form is intended for seeking Admission to First Year Diploma Courses offered in Government Polytechnic Colleges under the purview of the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai 600 025.

Filled in Applications should be sent to the Principal of the respective Polytechnic Colleges on or before 21-06-2017.

ALLOCATION OF SEATS, POLYTECHNIC COLLEGES, COURSES ETC :
1. Seats in Diploma Courses in the Government Polytechnic Colleges are offered under the following categories:
(i)Seats under merit quota in Regular Diploma Courses.
(ii) Seats in Sandwich Courses : 50% seats under merit quota and remaining 50% seats under sponsored quota.
(iii) Seats offered under Multi Point Entry and Credit System (MPEC).

2. Candidates seeking admission under Special Categories like Sports Person, Ex-Servicemen, Differently Abled should file application form separately prescribed for this purpose.

Qualifying Examination : A pass in the 10th Standard (SSLC) with 35 Marks in Examination or any other equivalent qualification.
Age Limit : No age limit.

MODE OF SELECTION :
Regular Diploma Courses :
Selection of eligible candidates for the courses in the Polytechnic Colleges and Special Institutions will be made based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination and the ranking will be done in the order of total marks secured by the candidates in the SSLC / Equivalent examination following communal reservation.

In respect of candidates whose maximum marks in the qualifying examination more than 500 as per scheme, the maximum marks shall be reduced to a base of 500 and rank arrived at along with other candidates.

Sandwich Courses :
For 50% seats in the Sandwich Diploma Courses the selection will be done based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination as for the regular courses following merit and communal reservation.

For the remaining 50% seats in the Sandwich Diploma Courses the eligible candidates sponsored by the approved industries will be admitted. The list of industries which are participating in the In-plant Training etc., are alone eligible to sponsor candidates.

Sandwich courses will extend for a period for 3 & 1/2 year (7 semesters). Candidates admitted to sandwich courses will attend the Institution study as well as Inplant Training in one of the connected industries.

These candidates should satisfy the rules relating to eligibility rules prescribed.

The following original certificates should be produced at the time of admission to the Principal.
(a) Conduct certificate and Transfer Certificate are in original from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate had last studied ;
(b) SSLC book or equivalent record ;
(c) SSLC mark sheet or mark sheet issued by the concerned educational authority for the qualifying examination ; SSLC mark sheet issued by the Head Master of the School, will not be accepted. and
(d) Original community certificate for ST /SC / SC(A) / MBC & DNC / BC (Others) / BC (Muslims) from prescribed authority.

Other Important Points :
1. Applications received after the prescribed date and applications which are not in proper form or which are not correctly filled in or not received on or before the due date and applications which do not fulfil the terms of the “Instructions to Candidates” will be considered defective and are liable for rejection.

2. Branch will be allotted according to merit through counselling by the respective principal as per rules of communal reservation.
3. The Register Number should be quoted in all correspondences connected with the application and admission.
4. Do not enclose Original Certificates and enclose Photo copy of the Certificates along with the Application.
5. Separate Application for Sponsored Quota should be sent to the Principal of the respective Polytechnic College as ‘ # ’ mark mentioned under the list of Polytechnics Colleges).
6. Applicants should affix required value of stamps on each of the covers enclosed with the Application.

7. The Register Number of the selected candidates will be published in the Notice Board of the Polytechnic concerned. Intimation of selection will be sent to the selected candidates by the Principal of the Polytechnic concerned under Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due.

8. Filled Application should reach the respective Institution before due date.
